Types of Data Transmission

1. Parallel Data Transfer

•     Uses one line per bit
•     Transfer can occur in a few nanoseconds or less.
•     Not practical for long distance communications, because of cost and signal attenuation. ( more complex if radio propagation is used)

2. Serial Data Transfer

•     Each bit is transferred one after the other.
•     The LSB is transmitted first and the MSB is transmitted last
•     Slower data transfer
